In that time the journey has taken many twists and turns and over the years I have collected many stories.

On this site you will find the many write ups I have made trying to piece together the confusing and often contrary evidence left behind by those who have gone before us. And in doing so I have tried to bring back to life some fascinating characters whose lives have left me at times enthralled, at others dismayed but always fascinated.

I am neither a professional genealogist nor an historian.
I have collaborated with many people over the years and drawn on the research and findings published on the web by countless fellow amateurs. I owe a debt of gratitude to each of them for everything I have written.
